On Wednesday night, the Cincinnati Reds failed. They had one job, and they failed. Despite jumping out to an early lead, they ultimately lost 8-4 to the Los Angeles Dodgers, losing their series 2-0.

Not only did the Reds fail because they didn’t beat the evil Dodgers, but they failed because they kept a clean sweep of Game 3s from occurring. Earlier in the day, the three other teams who found themselves trailing 1-0 in their best-of-three series all won, forcing a winner-take all Game 3. Had the Reds won, today would have been a truly remarkable slate of baseball games.

As it is, it’s still super good. The Cleveland Guardians host the Detroit Tigers at noon pacific time on ABC, followed by the Chicago Cubs at home against the San Diego Padres at 2:00 p.m. PT on ESPN. And then, after that
