A plummet in donations at a homelessness charity in Cambridge has left store cupboard shelves bare. Staff members at Jimmy's are worried about how they will continue to provide enough food for those they support.
Cat Strawbridge, head of fundraising at the charity, commented on Wednesday (October 1): "It hit me when I walked into the cupboard yesterday. I have never seen the shelves as empty as they are.
"It put the fear of God in me. I was genuinely shocked to see less food during our harvest appeal than during the height of summer, when donations are typically at their lowest.
"I am concerned about how we are going to fill these cupboards and get enough food for the year."
