Forty-seven years after a young boy went missing in the woods near his Webster home, federal and local authorities on Tuesday announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person or people responsible for his disappearance.
The FBI’s Boston division said it recently conducted an underwater search in Burrillville, R.I., in connection to Andrew J. Amato’s disappearance, but he remains missing. Amato would now be 50.
“Andrew Amato’s family has endured enough heartache, and they deserve to know what happened to him which is why the FBI is offering a substantial reward to incentivize anyone with information to come forward,” Ted E. Docks, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Boston division, said in a statement .
