JAMESTOWN — Every October, Virginia comes alive with Archaeology Month, and Jamestown Rediscovery is digging into the past like never before.

This coming Saturday, visitors can explore history firsthand through special tours and programs that bring the 1607 fort and its stories to life. Two separate walking tours offer an in-depth look at the 1607 fort site and discuss what archaeological evidence tells us about the interactions between English colonists and the Powhatan Indians.

There will be five different all-day programs, touching on topics ranging from archaeology happening at the original James Fort to the materials and techniques the first colonists used to build the fort.
