Hurricane Imelda weakened into a strong post-tropical cyclone Thursday while forecasters monitored two other potential tropical systems in the Atlantic — one of which could develop over or near Florida and will bring rain to the region this weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center.
That system could form from an area of low pressure near South Florida and the southwestern Bahamas. As of early Thursday, it was given a 10% chance of developing in the next two to seven days. It is forecast to move northwest across Florida and then over the Gulf.
