Wilmington task force’s draft plan to address homelessness is already facing pushback from those on the front lines of the crisis. Shortly after Mayor John Carney’s Homelessness Task Force released its report on Sept. 30, a coalition of housing advocates held a virtual press conference to present their own recommendations and to push for bolder action.
They criticized the report for urging state leaders to secure new funding while sidestepping the question of how Wilmington could use its own resources to expand shelter access, build affordable housing or prevent people from losing their homes in the first place.
