CHICAGO — Don’t take out your fall sweaters just yet — Chicago could see record-breaking heat in the 80s and 90s this weekend.

Friday is expected to hit 84 degrees and be sunny, according to the National Weather Service, while AccuWeather is predicting a high of 89 degrees. That’s significantly warmer than the high 60s that are average for Chicago at this time of year, said AccuWeather meteorologist Dan Pydynowski.

And if the city gets any warmer, it could break a long-time record. The hottest Oct. 3 in Chicago’s recorded history was 91 degrees set in 1954, Pydynowski said.
