DALLAS — A Dallas police officer was arrested Wednesday after turning himself in to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department for a warrant charging him with theft of property.

The officer, Snr. Cpl. Shawn Freeman, was charged with theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000, a third-degree felony.

Freeman has been with the Dallas Police Department since 1995. He's assigned to the North Central Patrol Division. DPD has placed him on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
