BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Early voting is underway in East Baton Rouge Parish, but turnout has been lower than expected, according to Registrar of Voters Steve Raborn.
“We encourage voters to not wait till the last minute,” Raborn said. “People get busy on Election Day. Come on out and vote early.”
Only 65% of parish voters are participating in this election, as it covers Baker, Zachary, and most of Baton Rouge. Residents in Central, Pride, and much of St. George will not be casting ballots this cycle.
“Early voting for this election so far has been pretty anemic. It’s been a little slow, to be honest with you,” he explained. “Saturday was our busiest day so far, and we expect this coming Saturday will probably be our busiest day,” Raborn said.
