FLAGSTAFF, Arizona (WJW) - Arizona state troopers are warning parents after a 13-year-old driving a stolen truck crashed after traveling more than 100 mph on the interstate this week.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, state troopers responded to a reported wrong-way driver on Interstate 40 around 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
A deputy noticed that the vehicle, which was reported as stolen, was heading the wrong way across the median before self-correcting and speeding in the eastbound lanes at more than 100 mph, the highway patrol said.
Investigators said, while trying to get away from police, "the vehicle drove onto the guardrail and 'rode' across the guardrail before rolling several times and landing in a tree."
