LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville nonprofit is calling for stronger oversight of Carbide Industries, the site of an industrial explosion and fire on Wednesday.
The chemical maker Carbide Industries may be on the far west side of Louisville, but members of the group Rubbertown Emergency ACTion said nearby residents are constantly at risk.
“This is just another example where we have ticking time bombs, like these factories all over our city and without adequate protection, without adequate investigation these issues will continue to happen and our citizens will continue to be put in danger,” Jack Bell, REACT member told Spectrum News.
Bell said the organization is fighting for public transparency and demanding plans for how Carbide will prevent incidents in the future.
