SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - The Oregon Department of Transportation is working to quickly hire staff for winter road maintenance following passage of the transportation bill , officials said on Thursday.
ODOT said they are hiring seasonal and permanent staff in every region of Oregon to keep roads clear and safe this winter.
According to ODOT, filling these positions usually starts in the summer, but with a hiring freeze and the state transportation bill in limbo, the timeline was pushed back until the fall.
“This funding is a significant investment, and we do not treat it lightly,” said ODOT director Kris Strickler. “ODOT will move as quickly as possible to fill vacancies, restore staffing levels and deliver the critical services Oregonians rely on in winter.”
