(PORTLAND TRIBUNE) -- There are only a couple of weeks left to say goodbye to this 10-year-old Portland cider house.

Cider Bite will close the doors to its award-winning cider house on Sunday, Oct. 19.

“After a lot of conversations and heartfelt reflection, we are deeply saddened to share that Cider Bite will be closing,” Owner Jeff Hanneson said in a statement.

Between struggling through the pandemic, facing break-ins and vandalism, and dealing with rising operating costs and a decline in tourism, the cider house will close. Cider Bite’s lease is set to expire in October, and rent prices, under a longer term, will be raised, making it hard for them to secure an acceptable extension that would allow them to continue operating.
