RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Harnett County woman is facing felony charges after a routine traffic stop turned into a life-threatening encounter.
Prosecutors said 49-year-old Linda Tripp threw fentanyl into a Wake County Sheriff Deputy's face as a way to destroy evidence on Wednesday.

"The defendant attempted to remove a dollar bill from view of the deputy as that struggle occurred," prosecutors said. "The defendant threw fentanyl into [the deputy's] face. He did have to go to the hospital to be checked out as a result of that.
