AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - William P. Sapelli Elementary School in Agawam will receive $125,000 in state funding to replace its roof, thanks to an earmark secured in the Fair Share Supplemental Budget.

State Senator John Velis announced the funding during a meeting with Agawam community members, highlighting the bipartisan effort involved in securing the earmark.

The current roof, installed in 1997, is part of a larger renovation effort across the district's elementary schools.

"I think it is really, really important," said State Senator John Velis. "I think this is the type of stuff that I really prioritize when it goes down to Boston and trying to track these funds that aren't as prevalent and widespread as they were, but to be able to get them and bring them back to the district."
