BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — A pocketknife was found in the hallway of a school in Barrow County, according to school officials.

In a letter sent home to families, Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy Principal Thomas Thrailkill said the knife was found on the floor in one of the school's hallways.

"Several students did the right thing by reporting it immediately, and administrators and our School Resource Officer investigated right away. The item was secured without incident, and the investigation concluded that there was no threat to safety intended."

The principal said follow-up measures are being taken in accordance with the code of conduct.

He asked parents and guardians to talk with students about the seriousness of bringing weapons and other inappropriate items to campus.
