KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A motocyclist was flown to a Kansas City-area hospital after a crash on Thursday evening, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DGSO) says.

According to DGSO, the 29-year-old man was driving on East 661 Diagonal Road, near East 582 Road next to Lone Star Lake outside of Lawrence, Kansas when he swerved to avoid turkeys in the road. Additional details are unknown at this time.

DGSO says the man was seriously injured.
