Anthony Stolarz, evidently, is in mid-season form.

His Maple Leafs teammates, not so much, in the club’s last home game of the preseason.

Stolarz was the best performer on the ice on either side on Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena, continuously turning the Wings aside as the Leafs were disorganized and sloppy through much of the evening.

The play of Stolarz wasn’t enough as the Wings beat the Leafs 3-1.

Detroit didn’t score until its 34th shot on goal, when Dylan Larkin shrugged off Oliver Ekman-Larsson in front and slammed a rebound past Stolarz at 5:04 of the third period.

Alex DeBrincat slipped the puck over the goal line at 12:28 for the winner. Emmitt Finnie scored in an empty net.

Stolarz already is making good on his contract extension, though it doesn’t kick in for a year.
