FRANKFORT, Ky. —

Gov. Andy Beshear said most programs in Kentucky, including SNAP and WIC benefits, have not been affected by the government shutdown.

Although they are currently affected, Beshear says he and his staff are monitoring the situation.

"Most, programs that come through Kentucky will continue. We've done it before. We'll do it again, but we'll be monitoring it," Beshear said. "Day to day. And for those families, I'm hoping that neighbors will check in with them. We don't have direct programs depending on how long the shutdown lasts, but certainly want to find any way that we can help these Kentuckians."

The shutdown entered its second day Thursday after it went into effect Wednesday at midnight.
