KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The three coaches who guided the University of Tennessee football team to national championship glory will be honored with a permanent tribute outside Neyland Stadium.
Tennessee Athletics announced Thursday that the southwest end of Neyland Stadium will be dedicated as "Championship Corner" and pay tribute to General Robert Neyland, Doug Dickey, and Phillip Fulmer.
The area will be open to the public year-round and serve as the permanent home of the Gen. Robert Neyland statue. Bronze pillars will be designed to honor Dickey and Fulmer. It is expected to be complete next fall.
