CLINTON, Tenn. (WATE) — The letters 'GT' inside a blue heart are displayed on the side of Anderson County's helmets this year. A nod to longtime Mavs football assistant coach and athletic director Gary Terry, who's been in the trenches with cancer treatments over the last eight months.

“He’s a huge part of our program. I’ve been here 17 years and he’s been here with me the whole time. Really he was even here before I got here so just such an instrumental part of our football program, the whole school and really the community,” said AC football head coach Davey Gillum. "This is our family. He’s a part of my family and I’m a part of his. I’ve helped raise his boys and we've all gone through this together so this is as close as it gets really.”
