Australian Olympic legend Cathy Freeman has spoken candidly about her teenage daughter Ruby Murch, revealing the 14-year-old often inspires her with her strength and conviction.
The 52-year-old former sprinter, who became the first Aboriginal Australian to win an individual Olympic gold medal at the Sydney 2000 Games, reflected on her journey as a mother in a new interview with Women’s Weekly.
"I do find inspiration in my 14-year-old. She's got a voice that's just so strong, so clear- very annoying [she laughs] but strong and clear," Freeman said.
"And she makes me sit up and go, oh, you are actually right… it's a pretty amazing experience when that occurs because it makes you feel safe and good about the kind of character that she's become."
