COVINGTON, Ky. — A University of Cincinnati student and CityBeat intern has been cleared of most charges after their arrest while covering a protest in Northern Kentucky.
Lucas Griffith faced misdemeanor charges in Kenton County District Court following their arrest at the Roebling Bridge. A felony rioting charge initially filed by Covington police was dropped by Kenton Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders.
On Thursday, a jury found Griffith not guilty on three of the four charges. Griffith was convicted of one count, failure to disperse, and was ordered to pay a $50 fine plus $169 in court costs.
“The Covington Police Department arrested and charged our client despite being made aware that he was a journalist. The jury correctly rejected the prosecutor’s request to convict him of multiple
