FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind. — Firefighters are responding to an explosion in Floyds Knobs that injured two people and damaged property, officials said.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. Monday in the 4600 block of E. Luther Road. Highlander Fire Protection District crews said the explosion occurred while gasoline was being ignited while fueling a zero-turn lawnmower. The fire spread to the mower and a nearby pole barn.

One person suffered burns to the face and upper extremities and was transported to University Hospital.

A second person was taken to Baptist Health Floyd for a separate medical issue unrelated to the fire.

Mutual aid teams from Georgetown Fire Department, New Albany City Fire Department, Palmya Fire Department, AmeriPro, and the Floyd County EMA assisted in securing the scene.
