BROOKINGS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -South Dakota State and North Dakota played to a competitive 2-2 draw in a Summit League match Thursday evening at Fishback Soccer Park.

North Dakota (6-4-2, 0-1-2) struck first in the 39th minute when Jessica Machovec netted her third goal of the season off an assist from Yui Fujii, giving the Fighting Hawks a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

South Dakota State (7-1-3, 2-0-1) responded in the 73rd minute. Senior Lauren Eckerle hit a left-footed boot from the top of the box into the top corner of the net, tying the score at 1-1. Eckerle, who notched her first goal of the season, was assisted on the play by Jenna Maloy and Hailee Christensen .
