There will be 59 outdoor warning sirens around the nuclear plant will be tested for three minutes between 1 p.m. and 5p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8. The tests are to determine if the sirens are functioning properly.
The testing is performed in cooperation with emergency management officials in Chesterfield, Darlington and Lee Counties, who are responsible for sounding the sirens.
Because this is a test, broadcasting such as TV and radio will not interrupt with Emergency Alerts, as they would during sirens going off with an emergency.
