Storm Amy will hit Scotland today with gale force winds and heavy rain battering the north-east and widespread disruption to continue into the weekend.
Weather warnings from the Met Office for wind and rain are both set to come into effect later today with, in extreme cases, the storm could cause 'danger to life'.
Parts of the north-east are now under an amber warning for high winds from 5pm, and will remain in place until 9am on Saturday morning (October 4).
While Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire will avoid the new amber warning, parts of Moray including Elgin and Forres will be hit by the most severe alert.
Meanwhile, the beginning of the yellow wind warning currently in place for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire has been brought forward from 6pm to 3pm on Friday and will remain in place
