INDIANAPOLIS — Multiple children and adults are injured and displaced after an apartment fire on Indy's west side.

Around 3:15 a.m., crews from the Wayne Township Fire Department and other agencies responded to reports of people trapped in a fire in the 5700 block of Port Au Prince Street , near Rockville Road and Lynhurst Drive.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found an apartment engulfed in a heavy fire with people jumping from the second floor of the building to escape. They found one victim in the front of the building and multiple others in the back.

Eric Banister with the WTFD reported that at least two children and two adults were injured, and about 14-16 people were displaced from the apartment. Two of the victims were taken to local hospitals.
