A BUDGET airline has expanded its list of axed routes impacting 15 cities from today after a second bankruptcy filing.

It comes as the Florida-based ultra-low-cost carrier scrambles to cut costs and restructure its operations following its filing in August .

Spirit has been hammered by rising costs and fierce competition since the pandemic .

The carrier reported losses of more than £2 billion since 2020 and previously filed for bankruptcy last November.

Spirit CEO Dave Davis said in a memo to staff in mid-September that the carrier would slash a fourth of its flying by November.

Spirit confirmed to Business Insider that its latest cuts will be in Hartford, Connecticut , starting October 31, and Minneapolis, starting December 1.
