The first full weekend in October in Chicago will feel more like July, with near-record temperatures close to 90 degrees.
According to NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Alicia Roman, Friday morning already started off about 15 degrees above average. Later on, the Chicago area will be close to 20 degrees above average for this time of year, which is 69 degrees.
High temperatures Friday were expected to be in the upper 80s, with many areas hitting a high of 88 degrees, though some parts could hit 90. The high temperature for Friday is 91 degrees, set in 1954, Roman said.
Saturday will also see near-record warmth, Roman said, with a high of 87 degrees. The record-high temperature of 90 degrees for Saturday was set in 1951.
