PAWHUSKA, Okla. (KFOR) — Former Texas megachurch pastor Robert Morris will spend the next six months in jail after pleading guilty to sexually abusing an Osage County girl in the 1980s.
Morris, the founder of the Gateway Church, pleaded guilty Thursday to five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child. Court documents say the victim, Cindy Clemishire, told authorities the abuse began in December in 1982 while Morris was a traveling evangelist and staying at Clemishire's family home in Hominy, Oklahoma. Clemishire said the abuse carried on for nearly half a decade.
Morris received a 10-year suspended sentence under the plea agreement, with the first six months being served in the Osage County Jail, and must register as a sex offender while being supervised by Texas authorities by “inte
