The Centre has released over Rs 14.52 crores in grants to support Rural Local Bodies in Mizoram.
For the financial year 2025–26, Rs 14.40 crores has been given as the second installment under the Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV FC).
In addition, Rs 0.1209 crores from the first installment of 2023–24, which was earlier held back, has also been released.
These grants will benefit all 808 Village Councils in the state.
Earlier in August 2025, Mizoram had received Rs 14.2761 crores for 827 Village Councils as part of the 2023–24 grants.
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Ministry of Jal Shakti recommend these grants, which are released by the Ministry of Finance in two instalments each year.
