PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A judge will decide today whether to hold a Central Peoria man accused of shooting two people in Downtown on Sunday that led to several people allegedly attacking police officers.

Adrian L. Morris, 29, was charged Thursday in Peoria County Circuit Court with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Because there are two victims, it is possible that a judge could order consecutive sentences for the two counts of aggravated battery. Given the weapons charge is considered a separate act, Morris could face up to 74 years in prison if convicted of all counts.

The hearing, held at 3 p.m., is akin to a mini-trial on the bases of the charges and the defendant's history and character.
