Chicago police were investigating a road rage incident in which a 26-year-old man was beaten to death by a suspect wielding a bat, authorities said Friday.
The incident was reported at approximately 3:44 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Wells Street near West Garfield Boulevard in the Fuller Park neighborhood. According to police, an unknown male suspect produced a bat and struck a 26-year-old man multiple times during a road rage incident. The suspect then fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV.
The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office hadn't identified the victim as of Friday evening.
No one was in custody as detectives continued to investigate.
