NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A music show that started in Nashville and transcended onto a national level highlights WSMV4’s historic efforts to bring culturally impactful content to its viewers.
In 1976, Channel 4 debuted “Nashville Gospel Show” hosted by Dr. Bobby Jones.
“You didn’t see gospel music, and if you did, it wasn’t similar to what we did. I thought this was a good way to expose a part of our culture,” Jones said.
It was a half-hour show on Sunday mornings that showcased some of Nashville’s best ensembles. It created a platform that enhanced a new sound spreading across Music City.
