CANAAN, NH (ABC22/FOX44) - A man was taken to a medical center Wednesday after he was injured while pheasant-hunting with a group, Fish & Game officials say.

The group was reportedly hunting in an area with thick vegetation when they unknowingly "partially encircled an area of dense cover". Lyme, NH resident Joshua Perrone, 37, was struck after multiple pellets missed a pheasant.

Fish & Game officials report that those pellets came from a single shot.

Perrone suffered multiple non-life threating injuries. Members of the hunting party called emergency services and were able to bring Perrone to an ambulance. He was then taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

This incident is reportedly under active investigation.
