ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. (WKBN) - A former Ellwood City police officer has been charged with assault in connection with an incident at a local Sheetz store.
Robert Magnifico, then a sergeant with the Ellwood City Police Department, is accused of pushing a 19-year-old man, denying him his rights, and then filed a report about the incident that was not accurate, according to Pennsylvania Attorney General David Sunday.
Magnifico is charged with simple assault, official oppression, tampering with public records and unsworn falsification to authorities.
Magnifico retired from the department in September.
