For the first time in 20 years, a jersey will be raised to Crisler Center’s rafters. The Michigan men’s basketball program announced on Friday that Trey Burke’s No. 3 jersey will be honored this upcoming season.
The ceremony celebrating the 2013 national player of the year will occur when Michigan hosts Ohio State on Jan. 23.
Burke will become the sixth person to have his jersey honored inside Crisler and the first since Bill Buntin in 2006. The others are Cazzie Russell, Rudy Tomjanovich, Phil Hubbard and Glen Rice. Only Russell’s No. 33 is officially retired, meaning the other jerseys can and have been worn by other Wolverines since.
