The American Civil Liberties Union of South Carolina (ACLU-SC) is suing Clemson University over the recent firing of a professor who reshared a post about Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Clemson University was one of many schools, law enforcement agencies, and government offices that fired staff members over posts made about Kirk's death. As of mid-September, Clemson had fired two faculty members and one staff member, though few details were made public about the nature of the posts by the school.

ACLU SC announced Oct. 3 that it has filed a complaint on behalf of a former Clemson assistant professor in the U.S. District Court. The organization is seeking the reinstatement of Professor Dr. Joshua Bregy, along with monetary damages and a correction to his personnel records.
