CLEMSON, S.C. — A South Carolina professor who said he was recently fired after sharing a Facebook post critical of political activist Charlie Kirk is now being represented by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and suing his former employer.
The ACLU released a copy of the lawsuit in which former assistant professor Joshua Bregy is asking a court to rule against Clemson University, its president and its board of trustees for the decision to fire him, claiming it was a violation of his First Amendment rights. In the lawsuit, Bregy stated that his firing was a direct result of a post he shared on his personal Facebook account.
