SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —

An employee of a daycare program at an evangelical church in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has been arrested on child abuse charges.

On Aug. 15, officers with the Spartanburg Police Department responded to the Circle K on East Main Street regarding a child abuse incident that occurred at 95 Ashley Street or Maranatha Free Church of Jesus Christ.

After the initial report was taken, investigators with the Spartanburg Police Department opened an investigation into the allegations.

The investigation revealed that Cedric Ann Henderson inflicted ill treatment and unnecessary pain and suffering to a minor child.

Major Art Littlejohn with the police department confirmed that Henderson was an employee with the church's childcare program.
