Tyendinaga and Ontario Provincial Police have seized more than 72,000 cannabis plants in an investigation into what they describe as organized-crime operations growing cannabis illegally on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
In a joint news release Friday, police announced they had arrested 10 people, “including six non-community members,” and seized three firearms and ammunition, along with $530,000 in items related to the operations. Police estimated the total value of the seized plants to be more than $122 million.

Five of the 10 people accused have addresses in British Columbia, police reported. Two are from Tyendinaga and there is one accused each from Belleville, Oshawa, and Newmarket. Their ages range from 39 to 60.
