Tru Fru's "Dark & White Chocolate" freeze dried strawberries were one of a few freeze-dried products that were voluntarily recalled by the company on Friday, Sept. 26.

Tru Fru's third-party manufacturer recently recalled certain batches of the freeze-dried fruit snacks after a customer reported the presence of metal in the product.

Georgia Nut Company (GNC) initiated a voluntary recall for Tru Fru's "Freeze Dried Strawberries & Crème" and "Freeze Dried Strawberries In Dark & White Chocolate." Tru Fru, LLC formally notified the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday, Sept. 26, after receiving a report from a customer.

The affected Tru Fru products were distributed to retailers across the United States, including but not limited to Albertsons, CVS, Food Lion, H-E-B, Hungryroot, Ingles Markets, Kroger, Stew Leonard's and Target, according to the notice published by the FDA on Monday, Sept. 29.

The notice adds: "No other Tru Fru products are affected by this voluntary recall nor are any lots outside of those listed in the table." There have also been no reported cases of injury or illness as of the date of the recall, Sept. 26.

Tru Fru, LLC did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment on Friday, Oct. 3.
