MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers signed a bill into law Friday that updates the state’s criminal code to keep up with an increase in use of artificial intelligence.
Gov. Evers said Senate Bill 33, now 2025 Wisconsin Act 23, expands the crime of any images depicting nudity.
The bill also bans the posting or sharing of any intimate representation created with the intent of harassment or intimidation, as well as bans reproducing a private image of a person if they did not agree to it.
Finally, the bill puts a definition on synthetic intimate representation. According to the bill, it describes the term as:
“a representation generated using technological means that uses an identifiable person’s face, likeness, or other distinguishing characteristic to depict an intimate re
