CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- The president of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fraternal Order of Police is asking city leaders to bring in the National Guard to help CMPD officers.
The announcement of the request comes on the same day Charlotte leaders addressed security on public transit.

The National Guard has deployed to Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Memphis, and now the Charlotte-Mecklenburg FOP President is sending a letter to city leaders to bring in the troops to Charlotte.
“The amount of crime and the amount of issues that are going on, it is not safe to police our streets with the staffing that we have,” said Dan Redford, President of the local FOP.
