GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — After a marathon legislative session that stretched into the wee hours of Friday morning, Michigan lawmakers agreed to a budget for 2025-26.

Bills from the legislature now sit on the desk of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, awaiting her signature.

“I feel pretty good now,” said House Republican Floor Leader Bryan Posthumus. “The budget that we passed, it wasn't a Republican budget, it wasn't a Democrat budget, it was a budget for all of Michigan, and I'm really proud and really excited about that.”

Posthumus, a Republican representing Rockford, spoke with 13 ON YOUR SIDE on Friday and highlighted two major ways in which the budget will benefit Kent County.

It includes $1.8 million for the Kent County Youth Agriculture Association and $2 million for the Grand Rapids Art Mu
