The city’s largest transportation union sounds the alarm over Mayor Eric Adams’ plans to ban horse-drawn carriages in the city .

Supporters of the proposal cite a number of recent incidents involving carriage horses, where they were either hurt or injured and has long been a point of contention with animal rights activists.

But the Transport Workers Union says would bring an end to a world-famous tradition and result in job losses.

The union has launched a $1 million ad campaign pushing back on the mayor’s efforts to ban the industry.

Union drivers argue that most of these incidents are isolated and unrelated to how the horses are cared for.
