FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Two experts discuss bear safety following a possible second bear-related death in Arkansas in 2025.
A Missouri man's body was found near a campsite in Newton County. The man is believed to have been killed by a bear, but the Arkansas State Crime Lab still needs to collect DNA samples to officially determine the animal responsible for his death.
A man in Franklin County died in September after he was attacked by a black bear. These deaths serve as a critical warning to anyone who camps or hikes.
"I've camped in Virginia, northern Michigan, places where we see bears often. Black bears, typically. And cover your food up and keep it safe, and normally don't have anything to worry about," said lifelong camper Joshua Beamer.
Beamer says to always stash food o
