CASSELTON, N.D. — Matt Dosch came up big Friday night for Grand Forks Red River in his first career start at quarterback.
The senior threw for 196 yards, executed the game's most important play on a 25-yard fake punt and then punched in the winning score from the 1-yard line.
Dosch's heroics sparked a 19-17 win over No. 5 Central Cass.
"He led our team and did a great job," Red River coach Vyrn Muir said. "Matt played really well, and I don't think we're surprised by that."
Dosch's fake punt in the fourth quarter led to Red River's winning score. On second-and-goal from the 1, Dosch ran a quarterback sneak with 3 minutes, 9 seconds remaining for a 19-17 advantage.
Perhaps most impressive, Dosch's fake punt wasn't a called play.
