Two cousins posed as a police detective to con elderly people out of thousands of pounds.

Mohammad Suleyman, 35, and Mohammed Masood, 26, targeted victims on their landline phones and purported to be investigating stolen or fraudulently used bank cards.

They managed to convince one person, aged 86, to give them more than £4,500 and two new iPhones while another victim, aged 77, was conned into purchasing a Rolex worth nearly £13,000 for them.

More people were also targeted unsuccessfully. Suleyman, of Scholars Close, in Soho , Birmingham admitted conspiracy to defraud.
